On the 29th of March 2019, the UK was supposed to leave the European Union. Coca-Cola aimed to use this moment to convey a message of togetherness. At that time, approximately 3.8 million EU citizens were living in Britain, including an estimated 500,000 UK-EU couples (130,000 in London). These couples – and their future offspring – represented love and connection that transcends borders and politics. The idea was to live-stream real ultrasound scans of mixed couples' babies expected to be born just after Brexit, with the message that these babies will be born regardless of what happens on that day.
Coca-Cola approved the campaign, and the scans were set to take over Piccadilly Circus and various locations across London on the 29th of March. However, the Brexit agreement was delayed by two years. Despite this, the idea remains alive and valid today.
